Clairo went from YouTube to Coachella in a hot second

And now has a debut album.

When Massachusetts-born Clair Cottrill wrote ‘Flamin Hot Cheetos’ in 2016, she never would have predicted that the song would rack up more than seven million views on YouTube.

Fast forward two years and the songwriter, now going by Clairo, has blown up.

The self-produced track ‘Pretty Girl’ went viral, launching her all the way to the Coachella stage earlier this year.

Clairo’s debut album Immunity includes the single ‘Closer to You’, which she co-produced with Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend.

Clairo’s success isn’t just down to her voice. The singer-songwriter-producer-instrumentalist’s hyphenated job description lends a do-it-yourself flavour that has seen her music dubbed ‘bedroom-pop’.

Having opened for both Dua Lipa and Khalid, she has sold out tours in the Europe, Asia and the States.
