Flight Facilities and the MSO team up for Melbourne Festival 2015

One night only.

Flight Facilities will join forces with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for one night only as part of the 2015 Melbourne Festival.

The night will see the duo alongside 50 classical musicians create a brand new and all-immersive experience of their debut album Down To Earth.

“Long before making Clair de lune, we’ve both shared a love for classical music,” said Hugo and James. “Playing alongside an orchestra was almost inconceivable when we started Flight Facilities, but now we’ve been given the chance to collaborate and perform with one of Australia’s greatest.

“We’re taking on the challenge of reinventing not only the way we approach our live show, but our original pieces of music, too. For us, the opportunity to have Melbourne Symphony Orchestra reinterpret the contemporary as classical, can only be described as ‘a dream come true’.”

Special guest singers will also be announced for the show next month.

Last year at Melbourne Festival the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra joined forces with Detroit techno titan Jeff Mills to great acclaim.  See this special performance set under the stars of the outdoor amphitheatre at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday October 17. Tickets on sale at 9am on Wednesday May 6.

The full program for this year’s Melbourne Festival will be announced on Tuesday August 4. Visit their website for more information.
