Dance with me now.

Despite it being an unbelievably terrible year (or perhaps because of it?), 2020 was packed with excellent music. So much of it, in fact, that I’m sure there are albums, singles and music videos that have entirely passed you by.

I know there have been for me, which is why I’ve asked some of my favourite artists to tell me about the music they couldn’t stop listening to this year. Because who better to ask than people who literally make music for a living?

Next in the series is French musician, producer and sound engineer, Myd. Emerging from La Fémis film and television school in Paris, Quentin Lepoutre, known professionally as Myd, is dishing out house beats with techno undertones, aimed at keeping the dance party going as long as possible.

His most recent track ‘Moving Men’ features Mac DeMarco and it’s certain to get the feet moving. Here are Myd’s top tracks of 2020.

Niko B – ‘Quick Drive’

Simplicity, style and dance. That’s my favourite song of the year. If clubs would have been open, I would have made my own club version to play during my DJ Sets.

Rebounder – ‘Lovers (Billy Lemos Remix)’

That’s what I call a GREAT REMIX! The idea is pretty ambitious and close to being a disaster but this track is amazing, dirty and frontal! I love it.

Wuh Oh – ‘Softstyle’

I remixed this one. Most of the time, I agree to remix songs because I’m sure I’m gonna make a better song than the original but on this one, I did the remix because I looooved the original! Wuh Oh is an amazing and surprising producer.

Paris Banlieue – ‘Estropiée’

Paris Banlieue is a girls band that sounds like the minstrels of 2020. Their songs make me happy.

Eric Copeland – Dumb it Down album

I love and I’m impressed by how spontaneous and good this album sounds. No clue how it was made, but I imagine Eric Copeland in briefs producing this album in only one week. (That’s a compliment.)

Mk.gee – ‘cz’

I feel like Mk.gee is my twin from the night. Love this song and this video. We should do something together to mix my day and his night.

Arthur – ‘I Don’t Want To Talk To You’

I would have made this video myself; it’s cute, homemade and poetic.
