Alicia Keys has gone virtually makeup-free for the cover of Allure

This girl is on fire.

If 2016 was good for one thing, it was helping women embrace natural beauty.

We’ve got women like Alicia Keys to thank for that. Covering Allure’s February issue, the singer continues to go virtually makeup free – a decision that first shocked people everywhere at the 2016 MTV Music Awards and during her stint on The Voice. And she slayyyyyyyys.

“I’m not a slave to makeup. I’m not a slave to not wearing makeup either. I get to choose at [any] given moment. That’s my right,” she told the magazine.

For such a simple decision, it’s pretty damn inspiring. But Keys asserts that she doesn’t want others to feel pressured to go makeup-free.

“I think makeup can be self-expression,” she continued.

“I have no intention to shame anyone at all [who chooses to wear it]. No one should be ashamed by the way you choose to express yourself. And that’s exactly the point. However, if you want to do that for yourself, you should do that.”
