Dyson has created a futuristic hairdryer that will change the game forever

Blowing us away.

While technology is constantly changing the way we consume fashion – think 3D-printed New Balance sneakers and creadit card dresses – it hasn’t exactly revolutionised the beauty industry. Until now.

In an exciting turn of events, appliance legend Dyson has created a Supersonic Hairdryer, that addresses several weaknesses in the current blow-drying game.

For starters, there’s no noise. The dryer carries a 13-blade V9 digital motor fan, inside the handle, drawing in air at 110,000rpm. In laymen’s terms, the noise produced is in supersonic range, meaning it’s at a level inaudible to humans.

An in-built microprocessor adjusts performance to solve extreme heat damage to hair, while the dryer itself is light and agile for improved handling.

This hybrid dryer is the result of a four-year, (roughly) $95 million dollar development process that involved 600 prototypes. Yeesh. Though if Dyson’s vacuum cleaners are anything to go by, it’ll be worth it (seriously, they’re that good).

The Supersonic will retail at $400 USD exclusively at US Sephora outlets in September. This baby is set to hit our shores too but no news on when. So we’ll have to wait patiently until we can achieve ultimate #hairgoals.
