Top Three: The products British makeup artist Connie Jerome swears by

WORDS BY CAIT EMMA BURKE

The essentials.

I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to products. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, and if so which cleansers you use. I want to know if there’s some special hair contraption or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.

But my interest in products doesn’t just pertain to the world of beauty – I’m always eager to hear about an air fryer that someone loves so much they’ve convinced their entire extended family to get one, or a laptop stand that’s corrected their posture and improved their quality of life by at least 25 per cent.

In short, I j’adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian beauty and skincare influencers for their top three products, AKA the products they simply cannot live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be any three products, as long as they’re the three they value the most.

Next up is British makeup artist Connie Jerome. Connie creates the type of makeup looks you immediately file away and revisit when you’re short on inspiration. If you’re curious how she gets her skin so glowy and her brows so naturally full, here are her top three.

Product one: Collection 2000 Colour Lash Mascara in Clear

How did you first discover this product?

I first started using the Collection 2000 Colour Lash Mascara in Clear about six years ago and I have never tried a different one. It does exactly what I need it to do and I repurchase one about every four months.

What is it/what does it do and why do you love it?

I use it every day to style my baby hairs and my eyebrows… it’s the easiest and quickest way to neaten up my whole appearance in about 30 seconds. It’s so cheap – it’s about $4. What more could you ask for?

Where can we find it and who would you recommend it to?

I’d recommend it to everyone because you can tame flyaways or clean up your hairstyle/slick your ponytail so beautifully – favourite product ever! You can buy it from the Collection website.

Product two: Herbivore Jade De-Puffing Face Roller

What is it/what does it do and why do you love it?

I use the Herbivore jade roller alongside their oils for a luxurious massage in the morning and or the evening. I use this every day to stimulate my facial muscles and circulation in my skin. Also, lymphatic drainage exercises help to depuff my morning face. It’s a small act of self-care that can really have a positive impact on my day.

Where can we find it and who would you recommend it to?

I would 100 per cent recommend facial massage to everyone, even if you start by using your hands then upgrade to a roller. You can find the one I use here.

Product three: Coconut oil

How did you first discover this product?

I’ve always known about coconut oil – I mean what better than a product that you can cook your dinner with and use all over your body and hair… hero product!

What is it/what does it do and why do you love it?

Every day after the shower I smother my whole body in it, whilst I’m still wet to lock in moisture. There’s something so satisfying about it turning from solid to liquid in your hands as it warms to your body, such a nice sensory experience that always improves my day.

Where can we find it and who would you recommend it to?

I tend to just buy a big tub from a health food store so that I know its safe for consumption, that lets me know that its the kind I want for my skin and hair. You can find it at any health food store, or an online option here.
