Role Description
In a nutshell…
We release around 50 new products a year, from wallets and bags to luggage, device cases, straps and travel accessories. What makes a great bag isn’t what makes a great phone case, so “good” looks different from product to product. As our Production Quality Specialist, you’ll own the standard that decides whether a production run is good enough to ship, and hold our suppliers to it, run after run.
Reporting to our Inbound Supply Chain Manager, you’ll set the standard that our on-site inspector, third-party inspectors and production support crew work to. You’ll stay hands-on with the product and also drive NCRs and corrective actions to close, and keep standards consistent across factories in different time zones.
You’ll track quality data, spot trends and turn them into better ways of working. The role also has room to grow into building our quality manual, defining batch sign-off rules the whole team can apply the same way every time. Day to day, your focus is holding the standard steady, so what matters most is sound judgement and the ability to explain your thinking clearly.
Key Responsibilities
you could be the one if you have…
- A few years in quality control or assurance for consumer products made overseas: soft goods, accessories, footwear, technical gear or homewares, anywhere quality is a judgement call rather than pass/fail
- Hands-on experience with pre-production and bulk sample approval, applying QC manuals, spec sheets and construction standards
- A solid technical grounding in AQL sampling, NCR management, root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Experience holding overseas suppliers to a standard: raising non-conformances, driving corrective actions to resolution, and coordinating remote QA staff and third-party inspections through to pre-shipment sign-off
- A way with quality data: tracking KPIs, spotting cross-category trends and turning them into clear recommendations
- Clear, confident communication in tricky supplier conversations, and the ability to turn technical findings into plain next steps (this matters as much as the technical side)
- A self-starter who takes direction and sees things through, with some experience guiding others (here, our on-site inspector and production support crew, not a big team)
- A plus, not a must: you’ve turned a jumble of product standards into clear rules someone else could follow.
If you were here last month, here are some things you might have done…
- Turned “good” on a new product into a clear accept-or-reject rule for the whole batch, and set the acceptance level for our on-site and third-party inspectors
- Found a defect in a production sample, raised an NCR, pushed for root cause and a corrective action plan, followed it through to close, and brought a clear recommendation (accept, rework or reject) to your manager where a bigger call was needed.
- Spotted a recurring webbing issue in return reports, traced it to a specific production run and opened a supplier conversation backed by data
- Tracked monthly quality KPIs, spotted a category trend and written up the quarterly quality report
- Prioritised pre-shipment inspections and QC checks by risk and launch timing, and shared the load with the team
- Flagged quality risks in a new product brief and tweaked our quality system so they’re easier to catch next time
