Modibodi

Designer

company: Modibodi
job title: Designer
location: Sydney
work type: Full-time
level: Mid-level

Role Description

Modibodi is a pioneer in innovative, protective, and sustainable apparel, dedicated to enhancing lives around the world. Our mission is to empower people through thoughtfully designed products that offer comfort, confidence, and care -physically, emotionally, and ethically. At Modibodi, we’re changing the world – one body at a time.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Designer at Modibodi, you’ll play a key role in the end-to-end product development process – from concept to final product. Reporting to the Head of Product and Design, you’ll be responsible for creating commercially viable and innovative collections that align with our brand aesthetic and values. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality, sustainable, and inclusive products to our customers.

Focusing on our fast-growing Teen category and Modibodi Basics range, this is an exciting opportunity for a junior designer ready to take ownership of their own product category.

In this role, you’ll work across fabric sourcing, colour palette development, tech packs, sign-off sheets, and sample development, all the way through to pre-production approval. Your focus will be purely on design and development, bringing fresh ideas to life through both print and solid collections.

You’ll be part of a close-knit, collaborative, and highly knowledgeable team with over 30 years of combined fit experience. Here, your keen eye for detail and passion for functional design will be valued and nurtured.

We’re looking for someone eager to grow, someone who approaches design with a creative yet structured mindset (bonus points if you love patterns and precision). This is a hybrid role (3 days in-office, 2 from home) with regular hours and a genuine commitment to work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full product lifecycle for Teen, Accessories, and Basics ranges, including visual planning and critical path tracking.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure technical specifications and sampling meet quality standards.
  • Design seasonal colour palettes and prints that are both trend-forward and commercially viable.
  • Lead the development of new product ideas and contribute to the annual product strategy.
  • Create and maintain tech packs, visual boards, and sign-off sheets to meet key deadlines.
  • Oversee fit sessions, provide design feedback, and liaise with Garment Technicians and suppliers.
  • Ensure all product development documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain fabric and trim libraries and ensure compliance with sustainability and Oeko-Tex standards.
  • Support quality assurance processes to deliver safe, ethical, and scientifically tested products.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, finance, and customer experience teams.
  • Present well-researched design concepts and contribute to continuous innovation in the Teen range.

WHO YOU ARE

  • A creative and detail-oriented designer with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in the fashion industry.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in fashion or design.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to build positive relationships across teams and with suppliers.
  • Highly organized, with a deep understanding of critical paths and timelines.
  • Analytical and solutions-focused, with a passion for innovation and sustainability.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working collaboratively.
  • Open to feedback, respectful, and committed to continuous personal and professional growth.
