Role Description
Zulu and Zephyr is a globally recognised Australian lifestyle brand, known for its considered approach to design, sustainability and modern resort wear. As we enter our next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Fashion Merchandise Manager to lead our merchandise strategy across ANZ and global DTC channels.
This is a leadership role responsible for owning the end-to-end merchandise function — from planning and buying through to inventory optimisation and retail execution — ensuring alignment with the broader business strategy and financial objectives.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead merchandise planning and buying across our direct-to-consumer business (online and retail), while also overseeing retail as a key growth channel.
You will bring together data, intuition and market insight to deliver the right product, at the right time, in the right place — driving sales, margin and inventory efficiency across all channels.
Key Responsibilities
MERCHANDISE STRATEGY, PLANNING AND BUYING
- Own and deliver the global merchandise strategy across Australian and Global markets.
- Translate the merchandising plan into execution by aligning buying strategy across both online and retail channels.
- Lead annual and seasonal planning across sales, margin, stock turn, and markdown.
- Develop and manage the Open-to-Buy (OTB) framework aligned to financial targets.
- Forecast and reforecast weekly and monthly performance to optimise trade outcomes.
- Oversee retail merchandising and partner with Store Managers to drive fulfilment execution and deliver commercial strategy across all stores.
ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience in a merchandise planning or buying role within fashion or lifestyle retail.
- Strong commercial acumen with a deep understanding of OTB, margin, stock turn and trade levers.
- Experience leading across multi-channel DTC (e-commerce + retail) environments.
- Ability to balance analytical thinking with creative and brand-led decision making.
- Confident working cross-functionally, influencing outcomes at a senior level.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to execute at pace.
- A natural operator — someone who brings structure, clarity and follow-through.
WHAT WE OFFER
- The opportunity to play a key leadership role in a growing global brand.
- A collaborative and considered working environment.
- Byron Bay-based head office.
- People Led Culture working with a team of high performers.
