From charity to couture.

For some, buying clothes at op-shops is a right of passage. It’s an integral part of finding a fashion identity when you’re young.

Today, design talent from Kangan Institute is making sure the magic of op-shopping is not a thing of the past. Through quality tailoring and flawless workmanship, these designers are giving a high-fashion makeover to old and forgotten clothes.

You can see the results at Melbourne Fashion Week’s Eco Luxe Fashion Show.

Participants are contributing a little extra to sustainable fashion culture, as 50 per cent of ticket sales will be donated to the Australian Red Cross.

It goes to show what a different environment and some alterations can do to second-hand clothing.
