An exhibition celebrating the Australian Fashion Laureate is coming to Sydney

Australia’s highest fashion accolade.

The Australian Fashion Laureate is the highest fashion accolade in Australia. It recognises the accomplishments of top-tier Australian designers, and is an all-around celebration of talent in the fashion industry.

Previous winners include the likes of Carla Zampatti, Nicky and Simone Zimmermann and Toni Maticevski to name a few. Plus, Simon P Lock, the man responsible for establishing Australian Fashion Week back in 1996.

The Australian Fashion Laureate is now in its 10th year, and to celebrate, the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences and IMG Fashion are putting on an exhibition.

The Catalysts and Creators: The 10th Australian Fashion Laureate exhibition will spotlight past recipients of the award, featuring iconic works from designers, plus inclusions from this year’s unannounced winner.

2017’s finalists include Dion Lee, Kym Ellery, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edwina McCann, The Fashion Design Studio’s Nicholas Huxley and Romance Was Born designers Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett.

The exhibition is presented by Etihad Airways and will take place at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum from Friday November 10 through to Sunday March 11.
