Puffers, jerseys, suits and sneakers.

Working in a creative role, knowing how to dress for the day can be difficult. Instead of having a set uniform of crisp white shirts and tailored black pants (as much as I love both), an ever-changing schedule means every morning requires a set of questions. Am I running around, or just sitting at my desk? Do I need to dress specifically for a project? And most importantly, will I be in the background of someone’s TikTok?

Part of the Melbourne-born artist group Typeboys, Kwabee Acheampong is deeply rooted in the city’s emerging creative scene. In addition to releasing music and merch under Typeboys, Kwabee has been immersed in the local fashion industry. His upcoming solo EP, K/FW, songs like ‘Sample K’ and ‘Fashion Weak’ speak to his experiences working as a model and designer.

Alongside K/FW, Kwabee has collaborated with local creatives like Jaida the Creator, The Unknown Barber Shop and Park Ssc to create Typeboy puffers, hoodies and jerseys. Below, Kwabee spotlights Melbourne designers in a diverse week of outfits.

Monday

This piece (the puffer) was brought to life by none other than Melbourne creative and designer, Jaida (@jaidathecreator). On theme with K/FW ‘Do Better’, she has combined my love for puffers and wide-fit bottoms… [in] my ideal outfit. The detail on the pants speaks directly to the creatives who may forget they’re not alone in this madness. Keep an eye out for her, trust.

Tuesday

[My love for] The Unknown Barber Shop runs deep. From Manchester to Melbourne, the support hits different when there is trust and belief. Alongside [our] music collective Typeboys, this first collaborative piece (the hoodie) was born. K/FW is an embodiment of my real-life experiences within the fashion industry.

The Jiggy Pink Ski Pants were provided by the homies at Huffer – always keeping me warm and fresh come Melbourne winter! Over the years, they have definitely become a go-to for me… the fit is exactly what I look for in day-to-day wear.

Wednesday

If we talking clean, it’s gotta be Strateas Carlucci! Mario and Peter have well and truly been lightyears ahead of fashion in Australia… [They are] constantly pushing the level of vision and craftsmanship. As the first  [Australian] menswear designers invited to show on the official Paris Fashion Week calendar… the quality and concepts of their pieces are unmatched.

Thursday

This is another beautiful custom piece! A big part of who I am is football-centric and being able to bring this jersey to life was truly special. With much love again to the Unknown Barber Shop and Park Ssc… this jersey sings to the inner child that never died. The references [are] from Dragon Ball Z, Pokémon and PlayStation… the Ghanaian and Australian flags speak to the duality of my existence, and it’s been Champions League since we embarked on this journey!

Again, I’m wearing another one of my favourite [pairs of] pants. These are the perfect pleated pants from one of my longest-lasting fashion relationships, Tala Made. [The brand] speaks to anti-fashion and a world that emphasises individual expression as a way to break down barriers.

Friday

Up-and-coming brand Emotiv People whipped up these amazing track pants, and I’ve been living in them since! I’m very keen on where this collaboration goes and what the future holds. I’m always with the cozy jacket come winter and this fave is from the team at XLarge. [Shoes are] James Harden.
