Why are we so obsessed with nostalgia at festivals?

BTV 2026 instantly sold out, proving we’re all ready for a pop-goth summer.

It’s hard to believe we’re already thinking about New Year’s plans, but after Beyond the Valley dropped its full 2026 lineup, there was no question. With Black Eyed Peas, The Veronicas and Armand Van Helden among the headline acts, we’re getting ready to party like it’s 2009.

If you’ve been before, you’ll know that nostalgic booking is kinda BTV’s thing. Last year, JoJo crushed it on the Valley Stage, and the year before that, we sang along to Sugababes and screamed ‘Unwritten’ with Natasha Bedingfield.

With plenty of new and throwback acts to look forward to this December, it’s no wonder the festival sold out completely during presale. If you were lucky enough to score a ticket, we’ve rounded up the standout performers, key festival details and the nostalgic headliners (past and present) inspiring our festival wardrobes.

Who is performing at Beyond the Valley 2026?

Marking its 11th edition, this year’s BTV lineup is stacked with over 80 musical acts, spanning house, pop, rock, hip-hop and more.

Headlining New Year’s Eve will be American DJ John Summit alongside Aussie pop-punk icons The Veronicas and Grammy-winning group Black Eyed Peas. Fingers crossed for a Fergie reunion. The 31st lineup also includes Vince Staples, The Jungle Giants and Crÿbaby, while December 30 will feature Ocean Alley and Overmono.

December 29 is also set to be a huge day, with Armand Van Helden, UK grime legend Skepta and jungle Nia Archives taking the stage. No set times have been announced yet but you can see the full lineup here.

When and where is Beyond the Valley?

BTV takes place at Barunah Plains in Hesse, Victoria. As usual, the festival runs from December 28 to January 1.

Most importantly, what should I wear?

Whether you’re feeling hip-hop glam or a gothic summer, we’re taking style cues from our favourite Y2K style icons, including current and past BTV headliners. Choose your fighter.

Sugababes

When it comes to noughties style, the Sugababes are underrated icons. The British pop trio made a strong case for wearing jeans-and-a-nice-top absolutely anywhere, including to festivals and red carpets. Embrace the Y2K of it all with low-rise denim – By Bettina Liano has incredible options. Then pile on the accessories (hoop earrings, wide belts, dog tag necklaces) and serve with an attitude.

The Veronicas

To really nail the pop-punk vibe, start scouring Vinted for an Alexander McQueen skull scarf now. A Jess Grindell slogan T-shirt or Olivia Rowan’s ‘Tumblr Famous’ singlet also feels essential, along with a cross necklace and plenty of black eyeliner. For bottoms, check out Melbourne label Hydra Opia for wet-look black pants you can detach into capris when it gets too hot, or a tartan buckled mini skirt, made from reworked kilts. Don’t forget side parts, oversized sunnies and fingerless gloves if you’re committing to the full Tumblr revival.

JoJo

For JoJo, there are two silhouettes to choose from: tight crop top and baggy pants, or long halter top over bootcut jeans. For the former, a bikini bolero by Emily Watson is a must, and for the latter, we’d opt for the back-buckle bootcut jeans by Melbourne label Kahe. Add some big hoop earrings and sneakers, and you’re set.
