Skechers has gone full 2000s with new ‘Heritage’ release

Words by Jasmine Wallis

As over-the-top as Paris Hilton’s handbag chihuahua.

Skechers has been a household name since teenage Britney Spears famously sported them nearly 20 years ago.

To close out another decade of Skechers being athleisure wearers’ choice of shoe and to quell our insatiable need for ’00s nostaliga, a limited-edition Heritage line has been released.

The new drop features four new styles, each as over-the-top and synonymous with the ’00s as Paris Hilton’s handbag chihuahua.

There’s the Captain’s View, an update on the original chunky sneaker featuring red leopard print; the Golden Idea, a more luxe look with a gold chain detail; the Flashy Stud, both a nod to the current logo trend and a throwback to the ’00s with rhinestone detailing over snakeskin print; and lastly, the Cheetah Queen, combining 2019’s animal print obsession with jewelled laces.

Inspired by luxury streetwear trends, these limited-edition sneaks have dropped just in time for the festive season.

The new line is available online, in select Skechers and Platypus retail stores, Myer in Melbourne, David Jones in Sydney and on The Iconic. Head to their website to see the rest of the collection.
