Book review: Circe

Words by Veronica Stanford

Magical must-read.

As an avid reader of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series growing up, Madeline Miller’s Circe was right up my alley.

It follows the story of the exiled Circe – daughter of Titan and god of the sun Helios – who discovers her power in witchcraft .

The beauty of Miller’s writing means you don’t need to have prior knowledge of Greek mythology before you begin reading.

Both informative and enchanting, it’s a story of gods, titans, nymphs, monsters and magic, that isn’t too laden in fantasy.

Expect to pick this one up and not put it down until you’ve hit the last page.
