Book review: Nine Perfect Strangers

Words by Tara Smith

Packs a punch.

Nine Perfect Strangers is the next work of fiction from Liane Moriarty, the bestselling author behind Big Little Lies and The Husband’s Secret.

Suffice to say, I was excited to read her latest. The story follows a group of guests checking into a wellness resort, and the chaos that ensues once they’re forced to spend 10 days together.

Billed as a psychological thriller, I’ll admit I was expecting a darker storyline. If you’re looking for the same twisted themes of Big Little Lies, you might come off feeling a little disappointed.

The novel felt a little slow in parts, perhaps spending a little too long on character development rather than advancing the plot. However, stick it out and you’ll be rewarded with an ending that packs a punch.
