Sabrina the Teenage Witch is coming back to TV as a ‘Riverdale’ spin-off

Another show to add to your list.

Hype around Riverdale’s next season is building, and now it seems like The CW network wants to cash in further with a spin-off to the series.

But it’s not just any spin-off, it’s a remake of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Cue excitement.

For the uninitiated (us until about 30 minutes ago), Sabrina was originally a member of the Archie Comics world which Riverdale is based around. In fact, the witch’s hometown of Greendale has already been mentioned in the first season of Riverdale, when Jason Blossom crossed onto that town’s side of the river before his death.

But don’t be expecting a comedy à la the Melissa Joan Hart days. EW reports the show will be titled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and reimagine Sabrina’s origin in a dark coming-of-age story. It’s expected to be released in 2018-2019.
