Ashanti and Ja Rule confirm they’re dropping an album

2001’s greatest collaborators.

Pull out your tube tops and low rise jeans: Ashanti and Ja Rule have announced they’ll finally be dishing up an album together.

The news has surfaced at the perfect time, allowing the duo to ride a ’90s/’00s resurgence that’s seen backstreet boys, TLC and even Spice Girls unveil new music.

“Listen, me and Rule, it’s so funny because we’ve been talking about that for so long, but I think now he’s like, ‘OK, now it’s time to do it. So we’re going to carve out the time and make it happen,” Ashanti told ET Online in a newly-released interview at the BET Awards.

Ja Rule also teased the collaboration earlier this month, Tweeting that he and Ashanti should collaborate on an album and follow in The Carters’ footsteps.

Admittedly, it sounds like the release is still a while away. In the meantime, we’ll be listing to ‘Always On Time’ on repeat.
