Lowtide: Southern Mind
Words by Bianca O’Neill
Keeping summer going.
Another band returning for their second stab at an album is Melbourne’s Lowtide, with the lush and magical Southern Mind.
Although it’s only February, it’s hard not to think this album would have been better suited to a November release. Its dreamy layering would have been the perfect summer album but alas, summer is almost over.
No matter, tracks like the Beach House-y ‘Alibi’ and the bright and airy ‘Window’ would do well to uplift us as we approach the long year ahead.
As is the case with almost all shoegaze albums, the relentless dreaminess can become monotonous but, as a backing soundtrack to your busy life, I can’t imagine anything better.
