WTF Rodarte, you have blown my brain

I don’t even like HAIM but now I do.
Not since a 13-year-old Tavi Gevinson sat front row with silver hair at their 2009 show have I taken so much notice of Rodarte.
I know all good feminists are meant to leave their princess idolatry at the brink of adolescence, but this Midsummer Night’s Dream-infused Renaissance garden is my pastel Eden, so take me there and feed me iced profiteroles colour co-ordinated with the gardenias.
The reason my feminism rests easy is that the subjects photographed for the label’s SS20 Resort Collection Portraits Series are a range of bona fide professional bombshells. Internet favourites like Lili Reinhart and Kiernan Shipka are obvious choices for their mass appeal, but still retain a cool Hollywood nonchalance considering their stratospheric fame.
Maggie Rogers, Roma star Yalitza Aparicio, HAIM, Alexa Demi, Helena Howard, Gabrielle Union, Phoebe Bridgers, January Jones, Margaret Qualley, King Princess and Lauren Tsai all glitter alongside them.
Gia Coppola looks strikingly like an ethereal Cruella DeVille and undoubtedly Kirsten Dunst is meant to be referencing her own Marie Antoinette. Never did I think I wanted pearl-encrusted hair or elbow-length gloves, but now it’s all I care about. Thanks, Rodarte.
Get me to this faux-Baroque oasis now.
