Arrested Development Season 5 won’t be coming to Netflix in Aus

Words by Veronica Stanford

It’s a great day, for being sad.

Last week, we reported news that we were being blessed with a fifth season of Arrested Development.

And while that’s still somewhat the case, it turns out everyone’s favourite streaming service won’t actually provide access to the show for us good folk Down Under.

Right about now, you’ll be wondering how this could possibly be, considering the upcoming release is a Netflix Original. Unfortunately, it’s been reported the show’s first-run rights were actually sold to Foxtel waaaaay back in 2013. A spokesperson for Netflix has reportedly confirmed the news to Junkee, stating the show won’t appear on Netflix Australia come the global release date of May 29.

No word yet on whether Foxtel still holds the rights to the show, and if so, whether it will air the series. In the words of George Michael: “It’s a great day, for being sad.”
