Role Description
In this role you are an experienced, detail-driven and hands-on Senior Designer, leading our clothing design direction and drive product innovation across all collections. This is a key leadership role that blends creativity with commercial awareness — overseeing everything from initial concept and mood boarding to final samples and fittings.
You have a strong understanding of fashion retail across both online and in-store channels, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings deep knowledge of design, fabric, fit, and trend forecasting. You’ll be responsible for leading the design team, collaborating with production, and ensuring every piece reflects our brand identity while resonating with our growing customer base in Australia and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Direction and Collection Development
- Lead seasonal collections across all categories
- Drive silhouette, colour, fabric, trim, and detailing direction
- Ensure brand consistency and strong product handwriting
- Lead trend research, market analysis, and customer insight integration
- Identify new product and category opportunities
- Present concepts and range direction to leadership
Product Design and Execution
- Oversee design development from concept through SMS approval
- Ensure styles meet quality, fit, and commercial expectations
- Review sketches, CADs, artwork, and product details
- Maintain consistency across fabrication, styling, and proportions
- Balance creative execution with pricing, margin, and positioning objectives
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead and mentor design team members
- Partner with product development, garment tech, merchandising, marketing, and ecommerce
- Ensure design intent is maintained through development and production
- Support team accountability, performance, and operational discipline
Workflow and Supplier Management
- Work within seasonal critical path timelines
- Ensure timely completion of design packs, fittings, and approvals
- Collaborate with suppliers on development and execution
- Occasional travel for supplier visits, development, and industry-related activities may be required
- Review samples and provide clear development feedback
- Escalate risks or delays proactively
Commercial and Sustainability Focus
- Design with awareness of margin targets, customer demand, and category performance
- Support responsible material and supplier selection
- Integrate sustainability goals into product development
- Maintain awareness of ethical and responsible sourcing standards
Technical skills
- Experience in fashion/apparel design, and experience in a senior or lead design role.
- Deep knowledge of garment construction, textiles, fabrications, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop), and tech pack creation software.
- Strong understanding of the fashion retail landscape — both e-commerce and physical retail.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and inspire a design team.
- Experience working directly with offshore manufacturers and understanding global production cycles.
- Highly organised with great attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple seasonal collections.
