Role Description
As one of Australia’s leading and most respected fashion designer brands, Zimmermann is excited to offer an opportunity for a Junior Product Developer to join our renowned Design team.
This role supports the sourcing, development, and management of raw materials across our Swim and Resort Womenswear collections, working closely with the Creative Director, Designers, and key stakeholders.
Reporting into the Junior Product Development Manager, this position plays a critical role in ensuring raw materials are accurately developed, documented, and tracked throughout the seasonal development cycle, contributing to the successful delivery of each collection in line with our creative vision and critical path.
ABOUT YOU
- Completed a tertiary qualification in Fashion, Textiles, or a related discipline, with ideally at least 1 year’s experience in a similar fashion business or product development role.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics and trims, with a genuine passion and curiosity for fashion and product development.
- Able to balance creative thinking with technical accuracy, adapting to both design and system‑driven tasks.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Confident computer skills, particularly across Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Experience using PLM or similar systems is advantageous but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and investigate new fabric and trim suppliers on a seasonal basis to support innovation and maintain a competitive market offering.
- Attend sourcing appointments alongside the Design Room Manager and Junior Design Development Manager, supporting follow‑up actions as required.
- Coordinate the distribution of artworks to suppliers for strike‑offs, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
- Order and track the delivery of all SMS components, monitoring progress against Critical Path key dates and escalating delays where required.
- Accurately input and maintain raw material data in PLM, supporting Design and Pre‑Production requirements.
- Establish and maintain a clear, accessible system for storing sourced raw materials to support cross‑functional team use.
- Oversee the organisation, upkeep, and filing of all raw materials, including managing both seasonal sourcing and archived components.
- Maintain the seasonal component library to ensure a smooth and accurate handover to Production.
- Set up and maintain accurate raw material information within BOMs, ensuring consistency across systems and documentation.
