A Sydney fashion graduate designed Chrissy Teigen’s AMAs dress

Teach us how to network, please.

There are few things we love more than when the world discovers fresh Aussie talent.

Well, it’s happened again, this time with Sydney fashion graduate Yousef Akbar. Overnight, Yousef was launched onto the world stage as the designer behind Chrissy Teigen’s AMAs dress. You know, the one that made *quite* the statement, courtesy of its armpit-high slit.

In case you missed it, Teigen’s walk in the black number made a few headlines last night, following a classic red carpet flash.

In true queen fashion, she laughed about the “hooha” reveal sitch on her Insta, giving credit where it’s due by tagging her laser removal  – as well as her stylists and of course, Akbar.

Fresh out of his Bachelor of Fashion at The Fashion Design Studio Sydney TAFE (he graduated earlier this year), Akbar has already built a pretty impressive portfolio, having designed dresses for Kelly Osbourne, Kimbra, and Jessica Mauboy.

He specialises in women’s pieces, showcasing his talent through bold and luxe couture statements. You can view more from the designer here.
