Now hiring.

Another day and the world’s obsession with cats continues.

Following news that Australia’s first cat festival is coming to Melbourne, a vet in Ireland is hiring a ‘professional cat cuddler’.

Yes, this is a genuine, full-time paying role, where you’re required to stroke cats for long periods of time.

The employer, Just Cats Veterinary Clinic, is the city’s only vet exclusively dedicated to cats. It even describes itself as a ‘no dogs’ clinic on its website.

“We are an equal opportunities employer, however we do discriminate against dogs attending our veterinary clinic as patients,” the website reads.

As professional cat cuddler, you will be in charge of calming the nerves of ‘patients’ at the clinic. Gentle hands, a soft-spoken voice and the ability to understand different types of purring is advantageous.

Before you go handing in your resignation letter, a Veterinary Council of Ireland recognised qualification is essential for this role.
