Role Description
ance gria is opening a new studio in Paddington, Sydney, and we’re looking for a hands-on Garment Technician to join our small, close-knit team.
We release two main collections a year of around 20 pieces each, plus smaller drops in between. Working alongside our Head of Production, you’ll make and adjust samples in-house, then turn them into accurate tech packs for our manufacturers.
This role suits a skilled dressmaker who takes real pride in fit and quality, and who loves both the making and the technical side of product development. You’ll be fast, flexible and solution-focused, with a passion for eveningwear and occasion dressing. It’s a chance to help shape a new Sydney production team from the start, in a growing brand with customers across Australia, the US, the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Make samples in-house, from first toile through to final sample, across two main collections and smaller drops each year.
- Run fittings and make fit and construction adjustments directly on the garment.
- Make or amend patterns to reflect fit and construction changes.
- Write and update tech packs, specifications and grading from approved samples.
- Work with the Head of Production to send clear amendments to manufacturers.
- Provide fabric consumption and construction details to support costings.
- Check pre-production and bulk samples against approved samples and flag any issues.
- Track samples, approvals and deadlines using Google Sheets and Excel, keeping each collection and drop on schedule.
- Uphold a high standard of fit, finish and quality across every style.
- Prepare, repair and alter samples for photoshoots, PR gifting and events.
- Keep the sample room organised, including machines, the sample library and fit records.
- Find quick, practical solutions to fit and construction issues.
