Role Description
The Talent Scout & Cultural Engagement Officer will play a key role in supporting the growth and development of BLAKLIST’s First Nations talent agency operations.
This mid-level position will strengthen BLAKLIST’s talent pipeline by identifying and engaging emerging talent, supporting talent development, maintaining agency systems and building meaningful relationships across community and creative industry networks.
Working closely with the General Manager and BLAKLIST leadership team, the role will provide hands-on support across talent identification, engagement, onboarding, development and industry readiness.
The successful candidate will bring strong relationship-building skills, cultural awareness, industry knowledge and the ability to work independently within a fast-growing creative agency environment.
This role requires someone who can confidently engage with talent, families, communities and industry stakeholders while upholding BLAKLIST’s values of cultural integrity, professionalism and excellence.
The initial 13-week contract will support the establishment and refinement of the Talent Scout & Cultural Engagement function within BLAKLIST’s agency structure, with potential for future extension based on performance, operational requirements and funding availability.
Cultural authority, strategic direction and creative decision-making remain with BLAKLIST leadership. This role provides operational, relational and talent support to help deliver BLAKLIST’s vision and national talent strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the BLAKLIST team, you will support:
- Scout, identify and engage emerging First Nations talent across fashion, media, arts and creative industries.
- Build and maintain culturally safe relationships with talent, families, communities and industry partners.
- Support talent onboarding, profile development, digitals, comp cards and agency readiness.
- Coordinate talent development opportunities, castings, test shoots and industry engagements.
- Maintain accurate talent records, databases and digital assets.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities aligned with talent goals and BLAKLIST’s agency strategy.
- Support the delivery of BLAKLIST programs, including the Next Gen Program and emerging talent initiatives.
- Assist with talent bookings, agency coordination and day-to-day operational activities.
- Build and strengthen relationships with fashion, media and creative industry stakeholders.
- Contribute to a culturally safe, inclusive and professional agency environment.
